DR (Mrs.) Mariam Nneamaka Comfort Abiodun Ali, is a
distinguished Deltan, politician and medical icon who has carved a niche for
herself in her profession, career and in Nigeria as a whole. She is a devout
Roman Catholic and a philanthropist of note. She holds a firm belief that at
all times equal opportunities should be given to all humanity. At present,
Nneamaka was included in the PDP Ministerial nomination list.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Nneamaka Comfort Abiodun Ali was born into
the family of Johnson Maduaburochukwu Stuart Ogoh and Bebecca Ghalokwu Ogoh in
Lafiaji, Lagos State, in the mid 50s. She is a proud daughter of Asaba, with a
strong passion for the unity and progress of her people, kinsmen, clan and
Nigeria as a whole.
She is the excellent and ever charming wife of her husband,
Senator (Dr) Ahmadu Ali, a renowned politician in Nigeria, former PDP National
Chairman and former Minister for Education, who she stood by, through thick and
thin for over 28 years of marriage and channelled all her energy towards the
realization of his dreams. They are blessed with many and wonderful children
who have always made them proud.
EDUCATIONAL BAKGROUND
Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Nneamaka had her primary and post primary
education in Lagos with short spells at Port Harcourt and Onitsha in Anambra
State. She continued at the then Federal School of Science, Onikan, in Lagos,
where she obtained the GCE A-Level.
As a young bright girl gifted in academics, she nurtured the
desire to fulfill a childhood dream of becoming a medical doctor that would be
worthy of reckoning,, hence this ambition spurred her on to continue her
studies at the University of Jos, as one of their pioneer medical students in
the School of Medicine. However, she completed her studies at the Ahmadu Bello
University, where she graduated with an MBBS.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr (Mrs.) Ali has an enviable record in her medical
profession and served as a seasoned administrator serving for 16 years as a
Medical Director of Medicare Clinics.
She is also an administrator of multiple businesses and the
Technical Adviser of G77 (South South Healthcare Delivery Programme) for four
years and its Acting Director-General.
Her utmost desire to support her husband in his political
pursuit exposed her politically. She shared all his vision with him and
channelled all her strength in bringing them to reality. Dr (Mrs.) Ali also
made a worthy run for the Senatoral race (Delta North) on the ticket of the
PDP.
She was the first African Chairperson of the American
International School, Abuja from 1991 to 2001, wherein she fought for the
rights of all staff members, irrespective of complexion, creed.
PRINCIPLES
The proud daughter of Asaba has a strong passion for
excellence and dedication. These virtues, according to her, exposed her to
selfless service. She aspires that all human race should live in unity; hence
she works so hard for the growth and development of humanity. No wonder her
immerse contribution to the society was recognized and applauded with a
traditional title, by the Asagba of Asaba, (Prof) Obi Chike Edozien, as she was
conferred the Enyi-Kpakpando Ahaba of Asaba.
To her, hardwork and determination aid people who are
focused to accomplish their dreams in life, hence her life reflects on these.
HOBBIES
Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Nneamaka Ali is a warm, sociable and
friendly woman of honour, who believes strongly in giving hope to the hopeless.
She enjoys travelling, and in all, has been to over 82
countries across five continents of the world.
She is a lover of golf, as she was the Vice Lady Captain of
the IBB Golf Club in the mid 90’s.
She also enjoys cooking.
ADVICE
As a woman with a firm belief in justice and fair play,
Nneamaka campaigns that equal opportunities should be given to all children,
irrespective of gender, social, physical and emotional status.
She also admonished women to stand by their husbands to
support and share their good visions with them as well as ensuring quality
upbringing of their children, so that the society would be a better place for
all.
